Memorial for Margaret Barnum Batie

Margaret B. Batie, aged 101 years, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away on the 6th day of December, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was born in Seattle, Washington on the 16th day of June, 1916, to Edward A Barnum and Emma Melching Barnum. Margaret graduated in 1930 from Linden High School at the age of 14 years, sum cum laude. She attended Detroit Business College in 1931 and in 1984, received her Associates Degree from North Arkansas Community College. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Harold Batie. She is survived by her three children, Tom Batie and wife, Connie of Springdale, Arkansas, Fred Batie and wife, Marilyn of Salisbury, Maryand, and Gretchen Batie Teeter of the home; five grandchildren, Melissa Johnson of Salisbury, Maryland, Marianna Batie of Salisbury, Maryland, Gregory Thomas Batie of Rogers, Arkansas, Doug A. Batie of Bentonville, Arkansas and Angela Batie Teeter of Rogers, Arkansas. A lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, Margaret was both an Elder and Deacon and was Clerk of Session for 18 years. Her career as a Legal Secretary spanned over seven decades. Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home, 3800 West Walnut, Rogers.
